ABOUT THE PROJECT"WATER TOWERS" |
Initial authors of this project are two explorers from Moscow - Alexander Benedictov and Arkady Zavadski. According to some numbers of water towers has been destroyed (link 1, link 2) it is the risk to lose not only water towers as there are but also a part of history of rural and railway water supply. Morover water towers are very good-looking in view of architectural aspects. Specially it's related to water towers built from wood and bricks before The Second World War and particly in past-war period. Towers built by captive Germans in past-war period have to be mentioned specialy. Prussian style is apparent for them (compare for example tower in the city of Obninsk to towers in Kaliningrad , former East Prussia. At the same time to authors of this project it is necessary to attribute all those who disinterestedly helped us in gathering the information on the given theme.
